PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Lee Harris Pomeroy is president of the firm he founded in 1964 in New
York City. He has guided the firm's growth, building a reputation for
design excellence over the past 37 years. Mr. Pomeroy's work has led to
numerous architectural awards, and to a number of significant commissions
with major commercial clients, including Swiss Bank Corporation, Saks
Fifth Avenue, HBO, and The Trump Organization. In the public sector, he
has designed libraries, educational and institutional buildings and large
transportation projects that have been recognized for high design standards
and improving quality of life in their communities.
Mr. Pomeroy's special interest in historic preservation has engaged him
in restoring, adapting and adding to older buildings, many of which are
prominent landmarks in their cities and countries including the Plaza
Hotel, Grand Central Terminal and Trinity Church in New York City, and
the centuries-old Hotel U Sixtu in Prague, Czech Republic.
As principal-in-charge, he plays an instrumental role in the design and
development of every project the firm undertakes. His considerable experience
includes work on both large-and small-scale projects for public and private
sector clientele such as the Dekalb Avenue Subway Station Rehabilitation,
Putnam County Historical Society & Foundry School Museum, St. James
Church, Perry Street Condominiums, New Rochelle Public Library, Fulton
Street Pedestrian Mall and Transitway, 14th Street/Union Square Subway
Station Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation of the 66th Street/Lincoln Center
Subway Station, Swiss Bank Tower, Master Plan for Office Interior Space
for the Port Authority at the World Trade Center, Home Box Office Satellite
Communications Center, Con Ed Interior Design Projects, Jericho Public
Library, Bedford Mews and Bellevue Medical Center Rehabilitation.
Over the past few years Mr. Pomeroy has overseen the firm’s expansion
into the international arena securing planning and design work for the
Tianjin Economic Development Authority (TEDA) in Tianjin, as well as the
campus master plan for Shandong Transport Vocational Technology College
in Shandong, People’s Republic of China. He has restored six historic
buildings in the town square of Prague, Czech Republic for the design
of the five-star Hotel U Sixtu, and he was retained by the Sultan of Saudi
Arabia for the design of a large-scale Commercial and Residential Center
in the City of Riyadh.
As a co-founder of Ecosol, an affiliate company that researched and developed
solar energy building products Mr. Pomeroy is recognized as a pioneer
in sustainable architecture and frequently incorporates “green”
architectural features into his designs producing environmentally responsible
buildings.
