I have been going back and forth about which of these two Richter cityscape paintings I like the most. On the one hand, Richter cityscape 1, as Kat points out, is easier to see at first glance; it makes sense. However, Richter cityscape 2 is effective for the very aspects that make it different from the first painting. I think ultimately I like this one better because it IS more difficult to see; it requires a deeper inspection. I love grayscale imagery!
